Different Cultures From A Sociological Perspective

Throughout the semester, I have learned a lot about social forces and society in general, and how these forces influence the personality and actions of a person whether these motivations and actions are intentional or not. Just as I have learned through textbook and article readings, in-class visual aids, and various papers and online discussions written, I have been able to not only comprehend the material, but apply what is being discussed in my own personal life and begin to understand more of the relationships that are occurring in my own life and how relationships in being made in the future will be affected will be changed because of this. This reflective paper will focus on the various differences in cultures from a sociological†¦show more content†¦Not only have I been taught the habits and feelings of my parents throughout the entirety of my life, but even my self-identity has been influenced by my family. I was obviously taught by my parent’s certain behavio rs that are encouraged and discouraged, like for example I was always taught that not being excused from the table was considered rude and disrespectful while in some families this may not even be a concern. This is just one example, in a much less serious sense, how the family and how a person was raised can affect their personality and everyday behaviors. Just as the family and the relationships formed in the early years heavily influenced my personality and behaviors for the entirety of my life, other aspects of my life that were very prevalent in forming the way I see society and how I fit into my role in society. One thing that everyone in my life has gone through as well as myself in school, specifically government regulated schooling such as elementary, junior high, and high school. School is not only important in learning the curriculum being taught throughout the years, but school is also essential for learning and understanding the unwritten rules of society and social gro ups, which in my opinion is just as important as what is required that students learn.
